First Wave Radio #62 - New Format? The following great selections were brought to you by Mr. No Tears. First Wave Radio is switching to m4a format files. I was hesitant to do this in the past as some mp3 players don't support this format, but that being said the advantage of having m4a files is that I can break each podcast into chapters, so that if you aren't digging a particular selection you can easily skip to the next track with a push of the forward (or backward) button. You will notice the difference in your ipod or 'personal music player' but may not notice anything on iTunes or software alike. Hopefully, we don't leave anyone out in the cold but the goal was to improve your listening experience. Cuban Cigar - The Slackers Messenger Man - Willi Williams One Step Forward - Max Romeo & The Upsetters Who The Cap Fit - Bob Marley I Still Love You - The Slackers L.O.V.E. - Rico Rodriguez & Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Don't Let Me Down - The Aggrolites I'm Your Vehicle - Blood, Sweat & Tears

Mon, 15 February 2010 ![]() First Wave Radio #61 - Bridges Here's a picture of a bridge. The end. A buddy of mine was talking about karma and consciousness the other day. He told me that we all have to be conscious of the fact that our world does not end at the skin, that we belong to a much larger universe, and that our actions and our successes very much influence success to those around us. If we strive to help ones around us to succeed, then we all succeed. Opposite is true of course but let's not focus on the negatives. Eat, sleep and be Irie.

Sun, 17 January 2010 First Wave Radio #59 - And From Outer Space......
To be objective, here's an interesting podcast. It's myself and Mr No Tears pushing dub into outer space. Dub for the anarchist, socialist and the surrealist. Our first album 'Say No To $' sold for $3 at a book fair in downtown Toronto about 10years ago. We were poor and we believed in the greater good of humanity. Our slogan was..."poor people deserve to listen to music too". Some things have changed but for the most part we still believe that a labour of love is not labour at all, it is a legacy in art, without a price tag. Without inhibitions.
I started this podcast for the most part as an altruist. I feel that I have a civic duty to bring music to the people, free of commercials, corporate schemes and profiteering motives. It’s so disappointing to me when I subscribe to a podcast and then maybe a year later I can no longer download an episode without paying for it or listening to half an hour of commercials. Life is short, commercials and advertising in general is taking too much time from our lives, speaking of which my rambling is also taking too much of my time……
So anyways, if you like this podcast send me a cheque for $500.....hahaha..."if you afraid of dying, then you ain't living right"-Talib Kweli-

Sat, 14 November 2009 First Wave Radio #57 - Livin' Soul: A Fauxlbum
Livin' Soul is a band from France, whom as far as I know have released 3 albums. The Bridge, As A Spring and Sweet Lane. I always had this idea of making a sort of 'greatest hits' album of my favorite bands and artists, a collection of songs that are not only appealing but in an order that takes you on a musical journey, and since Livin' Soul originate in France, I decided to invent the word Fauxlbum, (well at the very least I give myself credit for inventing the word).
There's a lot of Bob Marley influence in their music, but yet they are very progressive and have a distinct sound with a very distinct vocalist. I find that their music slowly but surely grows on you. Give this fauxlbum a listen a couple of times and maybe you will agree. I am hoping to do more fauxlbums in the future so stay tuned.
Up Town - Livin' Soul
Carry On - Livin' Soul

Just want to say a couple of things.
Saw Westbound Train and The Slackers last night. Great SHOW!!!
Nobel Peace Prize went to Obama. Was probably a political decision. Hope it's for the best.
As for this show it is self funded and self advised, no politics on this show. Just a soundtrack to your SKAndalous day.
People have been asking me about my recording techniques for the show, and all I can say is that I'm a little old Skool. I don't use any recording software, everything is put down live. If I screw up a mix I go back and redo the podcast from the beginning.
ALL HAIL SKA!!!
Wasted Days - The Slackers
Leave Me - The Slackers
Take A Trip - The Dualers
Last Call Freetown - The Dualers
Sweet And Dandy - Toots And The Maytals
Reggae Got Soul - Toots And The Maytals
King of Kings - Prince Buster & The Skatalites

Prisoner of Lonelyness - Willi Williams
