Thu, 29 July 2010 ![]() First Wave Radio #69 - The Genre Hipster
I am not a hipster. Nor do I really know what that means. But let us take a journey. Where our net-worth is measured by the contents on our computers. The hours, days and weeks of continuous music. But don't judge ones computer. It holds the key to our moods and feelings, on those days, quite frankly, when we feel nothing at all. With digital paper trails growing and growing each day, we are becoming more sophisticated in our tastes. Sub-genre after sub-genre of things that make us feel. I heard that the album making process is changing. Bands may no longer release entire albums, but instead easy to access singles. Or maybe that's happening now. I don't know. Let's just listen to the podcast.

Tue, 6 July 2010 ![]() First Wave Radio #68 - World Cup Finals
Soccer/Football is life. The rest are just details. If only we could settle all of our disputes and foreign policies with a 90 minute game of soccer/football. But of course even this would have its flaws. Missed calls, bad decisions, corruption, drugs, politics. The parallels are endless. I give credit to the World Cup. Only the World Cup can bring so many people together, of all ages, races and financial backgrounds. If only we can harness this power to change governments and tackle real world issues.

Episode 67 – G1 and for alll What do I think about the G8 and G20 summit? Sure, I am not an expert on politics. But why are we spending $1billion dollars to protect people that are supposedly more important than us? Why do we have this elitist mentality? I have partly paid for this event with my tax dollars, so what is my voice worth? Apparently, nothing. Better yet, I am paying important people to talk amongst themselves. I want to know what the poorest person in the world has to say about this. What does he/she have to say about the world economy, the state of our environment? I still believe that paying taxes is a measure of altruism but who am I helping here? Mon, 15 March 2010 ![]() First Wave Radio #63b - Rage to Calm Have you ever paid a bill knowing that you are getting ripped off? A cell phone bill much higher than the advertised price after system access fees, voice mail and call display? A restocking fee for returning a crappy product? A moving fee for moving your services to a new address? Enormous shipping fees? Commissions? Well chances are at one point or another, you let it go, cause it wasn't worth your time, patience or it wasn't economically feasible to hire a lawyer (which is another issue all together). I recently had to fight with my car insurance company, because they deemed me 50% liable for an accident that was clearly 0% my fault. I eventually had to go thru many hoops to get my full deductible back, but it made me wonder...how many people just give up?? My deductible is ridiculously high cause I am cheap and AM A SAFE DRIVER!! but all put aside these corporations that we work for and invest in (we give these companies money for these services), are trying to rip us off. It is probably an unwritten corporate policy to do so. Maybe competition is so fierce that these companies need to rip us off, and take advantage of our complacency. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

First Wave Radio #62 - New Format? The following great selections were brought to you by Mr. No Tears. First Wave Radio is switching to m4a format files. I was hesitant to do this in the past as some mp3 players don't support this format, but that being said the advantage of having m4a files is that I can break each podcast into chapters, so that if you aren't digging a particular selection you can easily skip to the next track with a push of the forward (or backward) button. You will notice the difference in your ipod or 'personal music player' but may not notice anything on iTunes or software alike. Hopefully, we don't leave anyone out in the cold but the goal was to improve your listening experience. Cuban Cigar - The Slackers Messenger Man - Willi Williams One Step Forward - Max Romeo & The Upsetters Who The Cap Fit - Bob Marley I Still Love You - The Slackers L.O.V.E. - Rico Rodriguez & Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Don't Let Me Down - The Aggrolites I'm Your Vehicle - Blood, Sweat & Tears

Mon, 15 February 2010 ![]() First Wave Radio #61 - Bridges Here's a picture of a bridge. The end. A buddy of mine was talking about karma and consciousness the other day. He told me that we all have to be conscious of the fact that our world does not end at the skin, that we belong to a much larger universe, and that our actions and our successes very much influence success to those around us. If we strive to help ones around us to succeed, then we all succeed. Opposite is true of course but let's not focus on the negatives. Eat, sleep and be Irie.
